#024 - Boarding Pass
I do declare, it’s Blair St. Clair!
After months of having RuPaul’s Drag Race sitting in my Netflix list and having a coworker tell me that I NEEDED to watch it, I finally took the plunge a couple of weeks ago while sweating my life away in an infrared sauna. The place I went to allows you to watch Netflix during the hour long session which is such an awesome idea. 10/10, would recommend. Since Season 10 is the most recent season available on Netflix Canada, that’s where I started.
And so, I’ve been making my way through the corresponding Untucked episodes. Yes, I already know who the winner of Season 10 is so that isn’t a spoiler. But I didn’t make this post just to talk about Drag Race.
Onward.
It’s been close to four months since I have completed anything to do with #dailyui and now that I have more time in my schedule to do creative things, I intend to get more of these out. Over the last two or so months, I have had this urge to travel and while it’s not in the budget currently, it doesn’t stop me from searching airline websites or apps for the fun of it.
The first and only time I went to Vancouver was when I was 10 years old to visit family. I remember it being fun but I was also too young to really appreciate the sights. It’s a dream of mine to go back and explore the city as an adult. I wouldn’t mind living there, either, but the cost of living gives me anxiety.
This is probably a good time to note that I’m open to relocating for a great job, right? Provided that it is in a city with decent public transit. Haha.
This was one of two screenshots I ended up taking. I lost track of time and it wasn’t due to putting all of the information together. It came from me wanting to fine tune everything and also doing other tasks in between. I knew I wanted to add an interactive element to it and the overlay confirmation message was born after I had completed the boarding pass itself.
Then I drew a blank on how to create GIFs in Photoshop. Thankfully, I still had the article I referred to months ago when I created the countdown GIF for Satchel Stone.
Question: If you scan the QR code, where does it take you? I toyed with the idea of just having my name and website in text as a credit, but then I said, “No. Do what you haven’t done before and make it redirect to the blog post.”
I did that for two reasons:
I’m trying to get out of my comfort zone and do this whole “self-promotion” thing. Anyone who knows me, knows that I hate doing it, but in order to receive results different from what I’ve had so far, I need to make a few changes. Plus if you don’t believe in yourself and hype yourself up, who will?
It’s a way of marking my work. People steal tweets, people steal photos, and pass it off as their own. Just know that I created this. I put my thoughts, my time, and my energy into this. Anyone else who says that they created this particular GIF and the corresponding prototype is not being truthful. While nothing of the sort has happened yet, I feel it’s still necessary to state this.
With all of that said, here’s the GIF and the Figma prototype!
