Green Thumb Mockup - Phase 1

I mentioned in the Green Thumb Storyboard post that I went too far with the mockup, compared to my classmates. At the beginning of the Intro to UI/UX course, we were told that we could either recreate an existing app or website or create one from scratch as the project we would work on over 6 weeks. I chose to do a little bit of both.

I have mentioned Green Thumb. It’s even listed as a project here, but I’m not going to sugarcoat anything. That first version is not my best work. There are only three screens and it doesn’t show how a user would navigate through the app. I wanted to revise it and this was the perfect chance to do so.

With that said, I was up to my knees in it. MY KNEES.

Green Thumb Design & Implementation Guide (DIG)

The week I had to turn this assignment in was the same week that I knew I had to make a few changes in my life. Were those changes easy even though I had already thought about making them a month before? Absolutely not. It was stressful and being confused about this assignment added to it.

To kick things off, my first thought was that it was a style guide so I used our good friend Google to gain a little more insight into what was needed. That just gave me more questions than answers, to be very honest. What really threw me for a loop that I was supposed to create this Design & Implementation Guide (DIG) before I even did a proper mock-up.

Green Thumb Storyboard

A few things have happened since the last post.

1) I completed the Intro to UI/UX course. It felt a little weird not going to class last Saturday after doing it for six weeks, but I will say it was nice to sleep in a bit.

2) I went a little too far with the final project. Classmates of mine completed three screens of a high-fidelity prototype and I ended up doing much more than that. You’ll see this in an upcoming post.

User Personas - Green Thumb 2019

Taking a break from our not so regularly scheduled programming to pop in with this post.

A few weeks ago I started taking a course that I have wanted to take for the last year. It’s an introductory course to UI/UX. I’m not only learning a lot and noticing that what I have learned on my own over the last year and a half is clicking, but I’m really enjoying it.
