Fonts We're Feeling: Dec 2021

Merry Christmas and happy holidays to all!

If you’re new here and you’re wondering what this Fonts We’re Feeling series is even about - don’t worry, I’ve got you! Every month I round up and share fonts that have caught my eye over the last month.

With that said, if you happened to miss the inaugural post from November 2021, go ahead and check it out! Maybe you’ll find a new font to use in your next project.

Fonts We're Feeling: Nov 2021

No, there isn’t a typo in the title of this post. I just forgot to add this to the blog weeks ago.

I’ve decided to create a monthly series where I share some of the fonts I’ve been loving. Hopefully you discover some new favourites along the way!

#053 - Header Navigation

I’m recycling the header from the Press Page I created for #051 in this series.

I’ve talked about this before, but creating things can be exhausting at times. It’s almost like being on a hamster wheel of creating, tweaking, then putting it out for people to see, and feeling the need to immediately get the next thing started.

Favourite Creative Market Purchases: Vol 1

I’m sure if you’ve read through a few blog posts on here, you’ve probably figured out by now that my love and appreciation for Creative Market is real.

So real that they are my go-to website for fonts, mockups, illustrations, etc. I’m not kidding when I say go there first when I need design assets. The quality and variety from all of the creators and designers is top tier, the prices are affordable, and I love how there’s a wealth of information available on the blog.

My Go-To Fonts

Hello, my name is Tenisha, and I have shiny font syndrome.

This doesn’t mean that I literally like shiny fonts (okay, fine, the rose gold ones are pretty), but it means I have a tendency to buy fonts I swear I’ll use one day that would be absolutely perfect for various projects. As a result, I have a lot of fonts installed on my computer, and I have yet to use the majority of them.

Does that stop me from browsing Creative Market and buying $2 fonts that I technically don’t need right now, but probably will in the future? Nope.

#050 - Job Listing

Oh, job listings…

We know that a lot of employers love to combine three roles into one to pay less money, and anyone in a creative field knows how this goes.

You’re browsing through listings. You see one that you know you would absolutely crush at a company that sounds decent, and so you put your best foot forward, send them your portfolio, and then continue down the list. A few days later (if you’re fortunate), you get a call inviting you to an interview. You attend the interview, and sooner or later, you hear this:

#048 - Coming Soon

This week’s #notsodailyui exercise is centered around a new bakery’s launch.

Outside is basically closed. This stay-at-home order isn’t going to end soon, and it’s frustrating to know that some people have been jet setting off to warm climates (Must be nice to have that sort of privilege, among others…) while the rest of us have been told to only go out for essential trips. Who knows when we’ll be able to wander into bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, order, and then sit down and enjoy our food and beverages again? At this rate, it’s looking like months from now, and I know I’m feeling exhausted. I’m sure you are, too.

#042 - To-Do List

Ahhh, where would we be without to-do lists?

I started to use Asana late last year after struggling to keep track of everything I wanted and needed to do and it was such a huge improvement. You can make multiple lists, colour code them, add links, schedule dates and times for when tasks should be completed by, etc. Most of my boards are focused on creative work and I mainly use to it jot down ideas for upcoming projects or to document where I am during a project, but I do have a few that are for personal use only.

#031 - File Upload

I talked a bit about this on the Freebies post (if you’ve missed it, you can get caught up here), but we truly are in a very unpredictable time now. Many people are getting sick from the Coronavirus, as well as dying, and people have been told multiple times to stay home. Within the span of a week, things grinded to a halt and panic set in. Literally.

And it sure did by Thursday of that week.
