#051 - Press Page

I don’t know about you, but last week felt weird.

I didn’t want to do anything. Had very little motivation to get things done. Maybe there’s something in the air? I don’t know. It’s been days since I’ve gone outside, haha.

This week’s installment in the #notsodailyui series is a press page that I conveniently created for Curls & Coils. Remember them? Yeah, I had forgotten about them too, so I decided to bring them back and show a little bit of love this week.

#050 - Job Listing

Oh, job listings…

We know that a lot of employers love to combine three roles into one to pay less money, and anyone in a creative field knows how this goes.

You’re browsing through listings. You see one that you know you would absolutely crush at a company that sounds decent, and so you put your best foot forward, send them your portfolio, and then continue down the list. A few days later (if you’re fortunate), you get a call inviting you to an interview. You attend the interview, and sooner or later, you hear this:

#048 - Coming Soon

This week’s #notsodailyui exercise is centered around a new bakery’s launch.

Outside is basically closed. This stay-at-home order isn’t going to end soon, and it’s frustrating to know that some people have been jet setting off to warm climates (Must be nice to have that sort of privilege, among others…) while the rest of us have been told to only go out for essential trips. Who knows when we’ll be able to wander into bakeries, coffee shops, restaurants, order, and then sit down and enjoy our food and beverages again? At this rate, it’s looking like months from now, and I know I’m feeling exhausted. I’m sure you are, too.

#042 - To-Do List

Ahhh, where would we be without to-do lists?

I started to use Asana late last year after struggling to keep track of everything I wanted and needed to do and it was such a huge improvement. You can make multiple lists, colour code them, add links, schedule dates and times for when tasks should be completed by, etc. Most of my boards are focused on creative work and I mainly use to it jot down ideas for upcoming projects or to document where I am during a project, but I do have a few that are for personal use only.

#041 - Workout Tracker

I made the decision to take some time off from posting on here and my creative account on Instagram. It originally was going to be for a week, but I knew I needed a break. It was overdue. Since the lockdown started and I was off of work, I forced myself to be “productive” by pushing content out. It worked for a while because it helped me be accountable and on somewhat of a schedule. I learned about a week into quarantine that I needed a form of routine in my life in order to have some sense of normalcy.

#040 - Recipe

This was fun. Maybe designing recipe apps is in my future. Or maybe it’s because I just love good pictures of food.

Who knows?

For today’s exercise, I designed an interface that gives the user ingredients and instructions on how to make avocado toast. Yes, I did choose this because of the whole “You millennials can’t afford to buy homes these days because you’re spending too much money on fancy avocado toast and coffee!” thing that has been floating around for a while now. Why not have a little fun with it, make the avo toast yourself, then save that $14+ for when restaurants open back up and you can celebrate with friends at brunch with bottomless mimosas?
